Propolis is produced by the bees from tree resins, mixed with wax, essential oils and pollen. It is used in the hive to seal cracks or holes to protect them from the outside environment. It acts as an "auto immune system" for the colony, combining antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal functions.

Honey and beeswax have traditionally been used in skincare products. Honey is a natural moisturiser, nourishing the skin.
